Wave good bye

Hello! It's color week over at Less Is More and they would like it to be "fire."  Here is what I came up with.

Sorry for the picture being a bit off center. I colored this using distress inks in Tattered Straw, Spiced Marmalade and Festive Berries. Blended them a bit using the round blender tools.

I did a few water spritzes across it and then decided to add a bit of black splotches as well. Wouldn't you know it, my black distress ink pen is dry, so I had to use another marker in the marker spritzer tool.

Leaf is from Technique Tuesday which is fussy cut out and popped up on the card. Sentiment is from So Suzy Stamps. Added this to a black card base so the color would pop a bit more.

Tree

Hi everyone! I got lucky and got in my order at Concord & 9th for their newest take a bough die set before they all sold out. That's what happens when your featured on JM's blog, huh?

This is a super fun die that has many uses and I can't wait to play around more with it.

I used Elf green cardstock from My Favorite Things to cut out the pine boughs. Gold mirror cardstock was used to cut out the star. Vintage photo distress ink used to color the bamboo skewer. I bought the skewers at the grocery store over the summer to use for kabobs, so I had those on hand.

In their video's they use a small terracotta pot as the base for the tree. I didn't have one on hand, but remembered that I did have some linen bags that I bought a while back. I just filled it with some epsom salts and stuck the skewer in it. I think I like it better than the pot. However, I will be looking for a few burlap bags while I'm out today.

Next time I do this, I will add a few more boughs throughout the tree to give it a fuller effect.

Anyway, I highly recommend this cute die set for Christmas or anytime really. Very creative new product.

Holly Jolly

Hello! I made this card a while back and it's been sitting on my desk waiting to be photographed. I had just gotten in this stamp set from Technique Tuesday, and had to play around with it. Coincidentally, there is a "heart" challenge going on over at CASology and there is this sweet little heart in the middle of this star.

I stamped the star in yellow and then fussy cut it out.

My creative vision was to incorporate this into a country themed card, hence the wire. I used fine gauge craft wire and twirled it around the end of a paint brush and then attached it onto the star. I think this would be so cute done up in red and gingham.

The bold sentiment is part of the set and I stamped it in Versafine black ink.

Watercolored leaves

Hello. Here is my take on this weeks Freshly Made Sketch.

The leaf stamps are from Technique Tuesday and stamped onto water color paper. I used my new Zig Kuretake real brush markers to watercolor and then fussy cut them out.

Mesh ribbon is from The Ribbon Girl via the UK.  I actually added this on afterwards because it looked so plain otherwise. Like the texture it adds.

Birthday Wishes vertical sentiment is from Gina K Designs and the wood dots are from My Minds Eye.

This is going to go into my masculine birthday card stash. I really like how it turned out. Thanks for stopping by.

Snowflakes

Hi everyone. Here is my take on the The Paper Players sketch challenge this week.

I started with some white cardstock and embossed it with one of the many snowflake embossing folders I own. Cut it in thirds and attached it to a dark navy card base.

The blue designer paper is from K&Company. The snowflake in the circle is puffed up on the DP as is the white swirls.

I cut the fishtail banner out using the same DP and MFT dies, then stamped the sentiment. The sentiment is new from Paper Smooches.

Finally, the snowflake is cut from a die using peel and stick fun foam. This little bit of thickness gives it a bit more definition, and it's easy to get it to stick. I did spritz it with some frost shimmer from Smooch Spray. I know it's a bit difficult to see in the picture, but IRL it looks pretty.

Poinsettia

Hi everyone. It's sketch week over at Less is More and this is what I did with it.

Poinsettia die is from Poppy Stamps. I cut it out of red and green cardstock, then distressed them with Ranger distress inks in Festive Berries and Mowed Lawn.

The berry branch is also from Poppy stamps. I cut it out using basic white paper, colored it brown using a Copic marker. To add the red berries, I dusted off my perfect pearls. Once dry, I cut it up and stuck it behind the poinsettia.

Holidays sentiment is from Papertrey, Ink.

Hello everyone! Here is my take on this weeks Freshly Made Sketch.

I kept if very clean and simple and followed the sketch to the "T."

Elf stamp is from My Favorite Things and is stamped in Versafine ink, heat embossed with clear embossing powder and then colored with Copic's.

I used a Tim Holtz jingle bell brad at the end of his hat. It is so cute, but you couldn't mail it, as it's a bit too bulky.

Adding this into the SSS Wednesday challenge too, as it's "wrap it up" this week and I think the present this little elf is holding up qualifies.
