Black Magic

Hi all! I just tried this technique called black magic, and wanted to share my creation. It's far from perfect, but I think I've got the hang of it now!

Basically, you stamp in white craft ink on dark card stock and then use your colored pencils to color and highlight over the stamped image.

I used this leaf image (SU) and several shades of green prismacolor pencils. The white dots are done with a Sharpie paint pen, which helps to highlight the image. The sentiment is from The Angel Company and its stamped in Memento ink on a piece of wallpaper. Yes, you read that right - wallpaper. I have two whole books full of samples that I pull out from time to time and rip out the fun papers to use in cards and scrapbook pages. The designer paper in the background is from DCWV and the green cardstock is from Bazzill.

The main image and the wallpaper are cut out using rectangle nestabilities. I decided to use the black photo mounts to anchor everything down.

Hello everyone! I'm excited to tell you that I've had another card published. This time in Rubber Stamp Madness, Spring 2010 edition. I was actually interviewed by Christina Hecht for the article that corresponds with the card.

The stamp is from Penny Black and I colored it with Prismacolor pencils and blended with OMS. I cut a few of the leaves and petals out and popped them up with foam tape. The textile cuttlebug embossing folder was used on the white cardstock and red cardstock was used to layer everything.

My card and the article can be found on page 16 and 17. WooHoo!!!

This is one of the new images from The Angel Company that will be available on February 1st. She is colored with Copic Markers with the following colors: E00 (skin white), E51 (milky white), R29 (lipstick red), B24 (sky), E08 (brown), Y02 (Canary yellow) and outlined in C1 (cool gray). Blue card stock used for layering is from Bazzill.

The ribbon down the center is a white satin ribbon colored with B24. The new daisy cuttlebug embossing folder from Provo Craft was used for the right hand panel. Fiskers scalloped border punch was used on it and a piece of red card stock. The blue designer paper on the left is a piece I've had in my stash forever and have no clue who makes it. Pearls are from the Reflection line from Micheal's.

Valentine's Day Angel Blog Hop

Hello everyone! Welcome to the Valentine's Day Angel blog hop! I think we have a record number of Angels participating in this hop! Be sure to click on all the links below to get some fabulous ideas for Valentine's Day! Here are my three projects.

This card was made with red, black and white cardstock. I used the Nestabilities labels 1 die to emboss the outline on the red cardstock, and to cut out the sentiment. The frame is from the Forever set and the sentiment is from Tag Tidbits. Black rhinestones are from Kaisercraft. Inks used - Palette pure poppy and Memento tuxedo black. Simple and quick!

I decided to do up a treat bag to put some cookies in! Labels 4 is used to cut a piece of red cardstock, which I used to anchor down the heart sentiment that is from the set Celebration time. I stamped it in red pigment ink and then embossed it in clear. Red grosgrain ribbon tied around the bag and a pretty bow top off this simple treat bag.


And lastly - I decided to go a little Tim Holtz grungy - and do something completely out of the box. At least for me!
Using the stamps from the Forever set, I created a Valentine's Day Tag. I stamped the "love" randomly in burnt umber on a piece of paper, then using a glue stick attached it to a heart chipboard cut out. Distressed around the edges and then added two antiqued copper eyelets in the middle.

I also used a tag fragment (colored with some alcohol inks) stamped with Stazon the "with love" sentiment from Tag Tidbits. I used a bit of scrappers floss for the tie. Added some mesh that I spritzed with some walnut ink to match all the brown colors. Using a stardust pen, I added some bling around the swirls.
Here is a close up of the button. It started out clear and alcohol inks were used to get that brown/copper look.

To get the soft brown distress look around the edges of the tag, I used a sponge applicator and the vintage photo distress ink.

This tag is so not my style of stamping, but it was fun to get out of my comfort zone and do something a bit different.

Grungy

Hello! Here's a card I made for the sketch challenge over on SCS this week.

The stamp is from Penny Black (critter party) and I colored him with Copic markers. In order to get the grungy scruffy dirty dog look, I used some rubbing alcohol and a cotton square. Just spritz the cotton and dab off the marker in places - basically you're just bleaching it out. I really like the effect it made - what do you think?

Designer paper is from Hot Off The Press, cardmakers ultimate creative pack. I don't even think they make it anymore, but I always find cute things to do with that paper! The brown card stock that was used for the layers is from American Craft.

This little guy is from the new Serendipity Magalogue from The Angel Company that will be coming out on February 1st!

He's stamped in Memento tuxedo black ink and then colored with Copic Markers. The designer paper is from Making Memories that I had in my scraps pile for a while. I was pleasantly surprised when I turned over the paper and I could identify who made it!!!

I sponged on some Memento Summer Sky to the white card base first, set the extra large eyelets onto the plaid dp and then attached them together. The designer paper was torn on the right side and I decided to rough it up a bit more with a distress tool.

The sentiment is from another new set debuting in February as well. I really like how it went so well with this little guy - perfect for a masculine birthday card! So, what do you think?

Hello everyone! Here's a fun project that can really make a statement for someone special on your list!

I found the pattern at Nicole Heady's blog (Capture the moment) on this tri-fold tea bag holder with envelope and used all TAC supplies to make it. You can download the project free from her blog.


I used a bit of velcro to make sure that the envelope stayed closed.


Copic Markers were used to color the mug - and I tried real hard to match the colors in the designer paper.

Inside pictures as you open the tri-fold.
