Happy Admin. Day!

This is a card that I made for my Administrative Assistant - she does just a wonderful job day in and day out for a lot of people! So, here's to you Joanne - I hope you were showered with cards and gifts! Thanks for all that you do!!

Card sketch #64 - lots of layers

Here is sketch #64 - a lot of layers on this one to play around with! Card measures 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.

I put my cuttlebug embossing folder to work for the back ground on this one! I just love how it looks on white!

The main image is colored with Marvy LePlume II markers - did the old "huff" thing and ta da! I added the gingham ribbon in the middle because I didn't like how blah it looked.

This card was made to give to my administrative assistant today, but ended up giving her another card - see above post.

April Snow day projects

Here's what I did while I watched the crazy weather on Saturday. My SBS sister Lorraine sent me some House Mouse images to play with and I ended up buying a few stamps. Thanks for getting me hooked on HM, Lorraine!

Both sentiments on the above two cards are done on the computer and printed on adhesive vellum. All images are colored with Copic Markers.

I can see blue sky and the sun appears to be out - but for how long we never know! Which is typical for my Sunday chores! The laundry is piled up and I need to vacuum up the dog hair on the carpet - yuk! Not to mention cleaning the dreaded bathrooms! I'd rather be stamping!!! It just might be time to look into a cleaning service! lol! Have a wonderful week!

Crazy Weather

This year has been so weird when it comes to our weather - you have to wonder if this is all caused by global warming or what? Anyway, this is what I woke up to this morning! In April!!

I think this is the latest I've ever seen snow. They are forecasting it through the weekend, but we never hold stock in what the weatherman predicts...it never happens! Or you wait 5 minutes and it'll change. That's what you get when you live in the Pacific Northwest!

At least this will give me a chance to clean up and organize the stamp room! Have a wonderful weekend!

Card Sketch #63 - Tilted

Hi everyone! Here's card sketch #63 - kind of an off center tilt! Card measures 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. Here's my card I made using this sketch. There are several things going on here, lots of fun to do and also adds a chance for a little creativity!

I stamped the main image in Palette Noir ink and then distressed it all over with creamy brown chalk ink from Colorbox with a stipple brush. The edges are torn and distressed further with scissors. I stamped another image and cut out the butterfly, which I colored using prisma color pencils and blending it with OMS. As you can see, it's also popped up with foam tape. I layered this onto a piece of light creamy brown card stock that I tilted at an angle.

The mesh was from a card kit I got at the $1 store at Christmas time and gold in color. I stamped over it with versamark and embossed with copper EP. I wasn't sure how it would come out, but it turned out great! The hardware is stamped with versamark onto chipboard and embossed with the same copper EP. Copper brads hold it in place. Overall, this sketch offers a way to use up some of those strange embellishments that we buy but never use. So, have fun with this one and show me what you make with it!

Technique challenge - Masking

I did this for the next technique challenge over at ASB. I really struggled with this card! It's one of those that just didn't want to come together - no matter what I did.

The center daisy is masked - which is the challenge - and then I worked the daisies into the other panels. So, I get this all done (except for the sentiment and the top right hand daisy) and it's sitting on my work space. I'm on to the next project - I look down and what do I see??? A big black smudge of ink in the top right corner of this card. GRRR! Now, I'm about to throw this in the trash - but thought, Hmmm, how can I save this one? I stamped another two daisies, cut them out and popped them up to cover the ink spot! Whipper Snapper Stamps has this stamp saying (which I almost used on this card!) "There are no mistakes in stamping, only embellishment opportunities" - you can see the stamp here. Can you say stamping MacGyver!

By the way, if you head over to A Shade of Blue, you will see one of my cards that won their spring stamping contest! Woo Hoo! I never win anything - so this was really exciting!

Card Sketch #62 - Legal size

Ok...doing something a bit different on this one! Let's make it long - legal sized or 3 3/4 x 8 1/2, which is just a little shorter than a legal envelope.

The picture is too dark to actually see the dark purple card stock that was used to layer the panels. The main panel measures 3 1/4 x 4 and the two side panels measure 1 1/4 x 2 3/4 without the purple layers.

I used my Copic markers to color the main panel. The bottom right panel is done with Palette Muted Violet chalk ink, stamped off once, which matched the main panel just perfectly!

I couldn't decide what to put in the middle of the panels...it was too much white space for me and thought it needed something! I played around with some ribbon...didn't work. In the end I used some purple brads that matched the background card stock.

I added some crystals to the center of the flowers and then used the stardust gel pen for highlighting the smaller flower centers.

The weather here is just gorgeous today...sun is out, I see blue skies! Hopefully this bodes well for a wonderful weekend....time for spring - out with the rain and in with the sun! But you never know here in the Northwest....wait a few minutes and it'll change! Have a great weekend, everyone!
