Autumn Watercolor

Good afternoon!

I just completed the sketch challenge over at SCS and was very pleased at how my card turned out and thought I'd share! It took a while to get there.....

I started stamping around 10:15 PM (I had to watch America's got talent).

The main image is from Papertrey Ink and I colored directly on the stamp with Marvy Le Plume markers in English rose and Olive green. Misted with water and stamped on watercolor paper. I had some designer paper from Making Memories that I wanted to use for the right panel, but it just wasn't working. So, on the hunt I go for something else (this is at 10:45 PM). I tried so many other colors of paper, nope not working, then reached for my back ground stamps. I tried several before finally deciding to use the weathered BG stamp from TAC which is retired. I used the same marker in english rose to color the stamp and ta da !!!

Ok - then I was on the hunt for the perfect Olive green. Talk about frustrating and I guess that I'm all out of my favorite from Bazzill. Time to restock! I ended up going with a darker olive from DCWV. It works, but not what I really wanted. Olive green grosgrain ribbon is used in the corner and as a tab of the main panel.

I did stamp the inside of this card, but can not get a good shot of it! I just repeated the flower image and will stamp a sentiment for the occasion that I need later.

I ended up finishing this card at 12:30 AM! I wasted a good two hours searching and destroying for the perfect back ground stamp and the right color olive green. Sheesh - why aren't things ever easy? Or is it just us stampers and scrapbookers who have to have things perfect (in our minds) and just so? What do you think?

Card Sketch Tuesday #141 - Recycle

Happy Tuesday! Here is sketch #141, which uses a bit of recycling on it! It's finally raining here, which we desperately needed. Autumn is right around the corner and inspired this card.


The recycled part is the left panel and tag. It originally came off a top I bought at Coldwater Creek. It was one piece, but had to cut it apart to get rid of the logo.


The base of the card is a piece of rust card stock from Bazzill. Dark brown card stock from American Crafts is used next and for layering the panels. The designer paper is from K&Company that just hit the major craft stores. I stamped the leaves (retired from TAC) in versamark and embossed with Glacier White Embossing Powder (CHF). The sentiment is from Stampendous and stamped in Palette True Black and also embossed with clear. Three yellow brads were added to the bottom and twine is used in the top portion of the tag.

So, here's the challenge this week, not only make a card with the sketch, but add on something that you have recycled. Us stampers/scrapbookers are always saving things that we think might work on a card or project. Show me what you have saved!

Inspiration challenge

Good Morning! I finished this card over the weekend based upon the inspiration challenge at SCS.




This is what inspired me.I did some sponging around the perimeter of the main stamped panel using faded jeans distress ink. The dragonfly stamp is from The Stamp Doctor that I picked up just recently at the stamp and scrapbooking expo. I did add some twinkle to it with a clear spica pen, but it really does not show up in the picture. I used the grass and sentiment from Stampin Up Inspired by Nature set as it seemed to go right along with the vase above! Versamagic tea leaves ink was used for the grass.

The designer paper is from Deja Views and Paper Pizazz. The lattice border punch from Martha Stewart Crafts was used on white card stock and added down the left side of the main panel. I did use one of the label dies from Spellbinders for the sentiment - I can never remember which number it is though, 1, 2 or 3? Using a dauber, I sponged more distress ink around the edges of it and used foam tape to pop it up on the card.

Pleated ribbon

Here is a card I created for the ways to use it challenge over at SCS. We had to pleat something on our card - and I chose to pleat my ribbon to go with the stamp I used.

The stamp is a level A hostess set from The Angel Company called Rose collage. I colored it with Copic Markers and also did the white satin ribbon with the same blue marker in the collage. To get the ribbon to pleat and stay in place I used some ScorTape. What wonderful stuff!!!

The crackle back ground on the right hand panel is also from TAC (retired) and the sentiment is from the new Purchase with purchase stamps set called sincere sentiment. Added a few butterfly charms which I found at M's on sale. The brown and pink card stock is from PTI.

Buttons and bows

Hello! Here's a limited supplies challenge (or motivational) card that I created for Paper Wings. The rules are:

Use two buttons
Make two bows

Those are the only two embellishments that you can use. You can use any designer paper and stamps on your project or card. Here is my example:

All supplies are from The Angel Company, except the DMC floss I used to tie a bow in the middle of the button on the sentiment flag.

Card Sketch Tuesday #140

Hello! Happy Tuesday! Here's sketch #140. This one measures the normal A2 size.

Get out your patterned paper and punches for this sketch! I did a little tone on tone stamping with this one too!

The base of the card is ivory card stock and Versamagic chalk ink was used in Wheat to stamp the butterflies. The lattice punch from Martha Stewart Crafts is put to work on the middle edge. I almost ran out and got some thin ribbon to thread through those holes, but ran out of time! =)

I had no idea what I was going to use for the sentiment on this card. The more I looked at it though, the more I thought about an anniversary card. With the pair of butterflies, it just made sense. I'm going to need a few anniversary cards in my stash, as I have a some coming up soon!

Inspiration challenge

This card comes from the inspiration challenge over at SCS. The hostess typically picks a web site for us to visit and get inspiration from. Today's was an apron company that has so many different styles and fabric's to choose from.


Here's my card and this is what inspired me.

I used Aged Ornaments from TAC to create the back panel and the sentiment is something I had made up from Victorine Originals. I saw this verse on the web somewhere and thought it would make a great sentiment stamp. I actually did a whole 8 x 10 sheet of sentiments and verses that you can't get anywhere else, and at a reasonable price!
