Hello and welcome back to another challenge over at Try a Sketch on Tuesday.  I created this 5 x 7  mixed media card using the sketch below.

I sectioned off a sheet of mixed media paper into a quad and proceeded to add ink, stenciling, stamping, etc.  Sentiment is from Avery Elle.

I smooched distress ink in Stormy sky to create the background.  The ledger stamp is from Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous and it is stamped in hickory smoke archival ink.

The number stencil is from Gummiapan, and I used black embossing paste from Ranger (Tim H).  The other stamps on the front panel are from LDRS.  Sentiment is from Honey Bee Stamps.

Mixed media tag - SSC374

Hi everyone! Welcome back to another sketch challenge over at Sunday Stamps. I am the hostess this go around and came up with this.

I created a mixed media tag using stamps from the following companies.  Texture stamps/Lou Collins, Trinity stamps, Penny Black, Repeat Impressions, and IO.   The dragonfly was created using shrink plastic, Stazon ink, and the dragonfly stamp from Repeat Impressions.  I also used a bit of scrappers floss to tie the ribbon onto the tag.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you join us.  Link is here

Just because - SSC329

Hello and welcome to another challenge over at Sunday Stamps.  Here is what I made using the inspiration color prompt photo.  This one was a challenge for me as I don't have any of the plum colors in ink or cardstock/paper in my stash.

So, I made my own plum color using watercolors and decided to make this card a mixed-media one.

There are a lot of different stamps used on this one. However, the main die is from Memory Box. I also did a bit of stenciling using a stencil from TCW and Gina K Designs texture paste.

Stamps: Stampin Up! - gorgeous grunge, Darkroom door - Script and Crafters Companion sentiment. Inks: SSS orchid and Ranger distress archival in hickory smoke.  Altenew jet black liquid ink for the splatters.

Mixed media Christmas tag

Hello. I'm playing in The Paper Players tag you're it challenge today.

I created a mixed media tag using distress inks, and a few stamps from Park Lane and Lawn Fawn. The dies are a mix of Tim Holtz Sizzix and Simon Says Stamp. I finished it off with a splatter of rustic wilderness re-inker and tied on a few bows made from twine.

The background is a sheet of music that was heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

Birthday wishes

Hello. Playing in the Freshly Made Sketch #600 challenge today.

The butterfly die is from Memory Box and the sentiment stamp is from My Favorite Things.  The background is done using my 5 x 7 gelli plate and a stencil from Shawn Petite, plus some bubble wrap, metallic paint, etc. There are a lot of layers on those sheets.

I cut the solid portion of the butterfly out of metallic gold cardstock from Tim Holtz to match the paint used on the background I created. I had a lot of fun creating so many sheets of gelli prints but it's time to use them up.

Mixed media card

Hello. Playing in the sketch challenge over at The Paper Players today.

I've had this snippet in my stash from a mixed-media play session that I finally put to use on this card.

I used the cling wrap watercolor smooch technique with the blue. Then added a layer of embossing paste through a stencil. A script background stamp and splatter is added to the mix to finish off the card panel. The dragonfly is a die that I cut out - added some Nuvo silver gilding flakes to it and stuck it on its shadow. The shadow was done by adding some blue perfect pearl to it. It sparkles in real life.

I really like how this turned out.  Thanks for stopping by.

Never stop exploring

Hello - playing in the Simon Says Stamp mixed media challenge today.

I used the new Uncharted Mariner with squeezed lemonade for this one. I've had the butterfly stamped up and cut out and in my stash for years and finally put it to use on this one. Stencil from Tim Holtz and I used some of the uncharted mariner glaze on it. Newprint stamp is from fun stampers journey, corners are from Whimsy stamps. The circles are done with a arcrylic round container. Sentiment stamp is from Tim Holtz SA.

Love you mixed media canvas

Hi everyone! Playing around with a 8.5 x 11 canvas and ended up with this mixed media tribute to love.

I started with some newsprint designer paper and a bit of mod podge. After it dried, I added a layer of molding paste. To get the texture, I used the Ranger texture tool. I really like that there are several to choose from on the ring and had fun playing around with them.

Once the molding paste dried I added some color using Faded Jeans and Pickled Raspberry spray stain. I blotted it off here and there to dilute the colors a bit.

The heart cut outs are done using the shakers die from PTI. I cut them out of thin chipboard and painted them. Once dry I stamped the word Love from Winnie and Walter and then heat embossed it.

Roses are from Kaisercraft that I glued on. Leaf dies are from Memory Box and Elizabeth craft designs.

Lastly, I tucked a swirl behind the solid heart and added the silver dragonfly.

I think this is my favorite piece of mixed media so far! Thanks for stopping by and Happy Valentines Day!

Mixed media journal page

Hello! Playing around with some mixed media and created this journal page and thought I'd share it with you all while I'm stuck in meetings in San Diego.

As you can see there is a lot of texture going on in this! I started with a normal sized water color page and added some gesso to get things rolling.

Using stencils in the top right and lower left I got out the modeling paste. After it dried I used some spray inks to get the turquoise and brown look.

Used some die cuts along the way, some chip board, a stamp (bee) and added the imagine sticker. Lastly, I added some shine using gold mica powder on the texture that I wanted stand out.

I'm interested in mixed media to a point. The perfectionist in me thinks that it's missing something or just a plain old hot mess and I get a bit frustrated with it. I guess it's just time for me to relax and let the creativity flow! This page, I obviously liked or I wouldn't have shown it on my blog.

Thanks for dropping by and hope your being creative!

Mixed media canvas

Hello! I've been  playing around with some mixed media on canvas and finally got one done that I like.

I should've taken photos as I added the layers and different ways I colored this. Oh well, I was just really playing around anyway.

I started with tearing up some designer paper from The Paper Studio and gluing them down with Mod Podge. Then I added some texture using stencils and modeling paste.

Using mostly distress inks, dyes and paints and a few spray inks here and there, I added color where ever I wanted.

Added a few die cut flowers, stems and swirls and then decided to add a few words as a title. the Dream and believe are made using Memory Box alpha's that I cut out of black cardstock. The "You" is a stand alone die that I think is from SSS. The ampersand is from PTI.

To finish things off, I added a butterfly cut out (Memory Box) and a corner guard embellishment from t!m holtz.

There are no rules with Mixed Media and for a person like me that is a huge challenge. I tend to like things clean and simple, especially in card making, so this is kind of fun to let my creativity just fly.

I just bought a new journal and I'm going to try do some art journaling. Wish me luck in between making cards of actually getting one done.

I'd appreciate any feedback! Thanks!

T-Shirt inspiration

Hi everyone! I purchased the T-Shirt below (Christopher and Banks) and love the design so much that it inspired me to CASE it using mixed media on canvas.

The canvas is a thin piece measuring 5 x 7 that I picked up on sale at M's.

I just used regular ink pads to stamp the different designs onto the canvas. The purple dragonfly is heat embossed with clear embossing powder and highlighted with glitter pen and pearls.

I used stamps from the following companies to create this collage:

The Angel Company
Cornish Heritage Farms
Papertrey, Ink
Hot off the Press

The bottom plaid is done using a stencil, black ink pad and a dauber.

Here is the inspiration picture. What do you think, did I get close enough to the original design? I had a lot of fun searching through my stamps for images that were close to the designs on the T-shirt.
