Here are a few sneak peeks of new stamps sets being released with the new catalogue at the end of June.

Hinges

Hi all! Here's a quick card I did using the "Hinges" level A hostess set out of Serendipity.


I used versamark embossing ink to stamp the hinges, then embossed with copper embossing powder. I then painstakingly cut them out and used foam tape to pop them up on the card. I used the script back ground for the right hand panel, which is stamped in Versamagic Wheat ink that is pretty much tone on tone with the ivory card stock. The designer paper to the left is from the "Juliette" Soar with it Collection. A brown grosgrain ribbon is run between the two panels and adhered with ScorTape. If you haven't tried ScorTape, I highly recommend it! It works just like red-liner tape, but you can tear it! So much easier to use and just as strong!

Road Trip pictures

Ok, as promised - here are some pictures from our road trip. We headed up North on hiway 101 towards the Olympic peninsula. Our mission was to check out the camp ground at the Hoh Rain Forest for our week long camping vacation. We did make a few stops along the way, first up was Lake Quinault. Image a lake with a big rustic lodge, with plenty of grounds to explore, relax or partake in water sports! These first four pictures are from last year.

While there, we decided to take a drive further up the road to see check out the camp grounds.

I had to stop and take a few pictures of the waterfall and river along the way. We stopped beside the waterfall, had lunch and then I convinced my husband, Bob, to go back up the road and over the bridge, and take the other road (which is along the other side of the river) back to hiway 101. Well, it was worth the moaning and groaning I heard about doing that because this is what we came across.

Yep, that's a black bear in that there meadow! As you can see above, Bob had to get a closer look and take some close up pictures. You can see him in the lower left hand corner of the photo. I took this picture from about 200 meters away - I would've been where he is if I wouldn't have had on stupid flip flops. I think the noice would've alerted the bear! So, I took them off and walked back and forth down the road waiting for a good shot! Guess what I'm asking for for my B-day? Yep, a good zoom lense so that I can catch these close up shots, and safely! =) We were so pumped up after witnessing this! It was awesome to be able to see and watch a bear in the wild. The Hoh rain forest paled compared to this! and you can bet that the for the rest of the trip, I rubbed it in that he should listen to me more often! LOL!!!

We ended up staying in Port Angeles for the night - we literally got the last hotel room in town! They had a Juan De Fuca street fair and a Halibut fishing derby going on. The straight of Juan De Fuca seperates Vancouver B.C. and Washington state. So, we got up early on Sunday and drove in to the Elwah Valley of the Olympic Peninsula - beautiful lake (damed up), river and mountains! The fishing is suppose to be hot on the Elwah river and Bob wanted to check it out.

Here we are posing with our four legged child - seems there's more pictures of the dog than there are of me - and I don't take them!!!

Then we headed up to Hurricane Ridge and we're blown away with the clear blue sky and the view.

Check that elevation out - no wonder there's so much snow left! It was really warm, though.


Again, we literally stopped for some wildlife, twice!

Once going up the mountain pass and then coming back down! It was the same doe - in the same spot. I think that area was her turf and she was looking for handouts!

So, that's our two day trek around the Olympic Peninsula - 375+ miles, beautiful sunny warm days, pictures and stories to tell! Thanks for letting me share our adventure with you!

Card Sketch Tuesday #130

Greetings - and happy Tuesday! I hope you all had a great Memorial Day weekend!

Here is sketch #130 - measuring the normal A2 size.

The main stamped image is actually two stamps from Local King Rubber Stamps which is out of Canada. I bought these at the stamp show I attended a couple of weekends ago, and now just got around to inking them up.

The back ground stamp has numerous Chinese designs, symbols and writing on it. I inked it up in Palette landscape green ink and then used markers on the bamboo stamp. Nestabilities were used to cut it out to the size I wanted. The dark green layer is actually white mulberry paper that I colored with the same marker I used on the bamboo.

I stamped the sentiment out on the mulberry paper and used the tag nestability to cut it out and a piece of the same back ground as the main panel. I ran a marker around the largest tag to give it dimension, then decided to do the same with the rice paper/bamboo designer paper. Lastly, added a black pearl to the tag from Kaiser Craft.

This past Saturday, we went on a major road trip and saw some absolutely wonderful scenery and wildlife. I took over 100 pictures and will share them with you shortly. We had just the most awesome weather and it was just sweet to get out and explore! Have a good one!

Forgotten Mother's Day card!

Oh my gosh! I totally forgot to post this card prior to Mother's day! Well, I did send it on to my stepmom, (who's really not legally my stepmom) since my mom passed away two years ago. My how time flies!
I stamped the flower onto the designer paper and then cut them all out. Using a normal hole punch, I punched the center of the flower and ran green ribbon through it. Tie a knot for the center and cut the left over ribbon to resemble a leaf. I also bent the flower petals a bit so that they looked like real petals. I added dots around the edge of the card using a white gel pen. The card measures 5 x 5.

CAS happy everything!

Hi all! I participated in the SCS Clean and Simple card challenge on Monday and here's my card. We were supposed to use black and white and one bold bright.

I chose to use turquoise as my bold bright. The embossing folder is from Quickutz, as is the nesting label. One of my finds at the Heirloom Pro Rubber Stamp Show. Speaking of my finds, I did get quite a few flower stamps that I plan on coloring with my Copic markers. This year it wasn't such a crush - probably due to the gorgeous weather we had that day! I'm sure there were a lot of outdoor family activities going on and of course the economy played a part in it as well. I know I didn't spend as much as I ususally do - just didn't see anything really "new" and exciting!

Card Sketch Tuesday #129

Happy Tuesday! Here is sketch #129! Measures the normal A2 size.

Thought I would do something a bit different this week! I don't usually go for inchies - as I get frustrated trying to get them spaced perfectly! But this one turned out ok!

This was done with outline stickers from Magenta. I placed them on the designer paper and then used a punch. You have to punch quickly and with a bit of force so that the stickers don't get caught up in the punch! After punching them out, I placed them randomly on the black panel, trying to get them as evenly spaced as possible. I also added a border on the right side using the same stickers from the set. Visually and in real life, this looks pretty cool. Not only that, it can be done real quick like!

Bandana technique

Hi there! I made this for the technique lovers challenge over at SCS and really like how it turned out.

I used the paisly rockz stamp set and stamped it in black randomly over the red card stock. Next use your white gel pen to doodle/color in any area you want to create the bandana effect. I cut it into three panels and mounted it to a black card base.

The circle tag is an old retired stamp that I thought fit in with the cowboy bandana theme going on here. I added some wire and curled it around my paper piercer so that it resembled barbed wire - sort of.

Heirloom Pro is in town this weekend for their annual stamp show! I have money saved to buy some new rubber and it's burning a hole in my pocket! I have a friend that I'm going to meet there - this is an annual outing for us and our fourth year in a row! Nothing like spending time doing some serious shopping with a fellow stamper! Card Sketch Tuesday #128

Happy Tuesday everyone! Here is sketch #128!


Card measures the normal A2 size.

I just got two new Quickutz embossing folders in the mail! Of course I had to play around! This one is called Vines. It's kind of hard to see it on the bright pink card stock, though.

The rose is stamped in pink - it's a two step stamp, so the main color was stamped off once, so that I could use the pink ink full strength on the outline. I decided to layer all the panels in black (which seems to becoming a habit with me) but it sure makes things pop and look clean. The sentiment is popped up with foam tape, as is the rose. Black and white gingham ribbon is tied to the top panel prior to adhering.

Digi Stamps

Hi everyone! I've been seeing and reading a lot about Digi Stamps lately and decided to give them try. The following are two that I purchased and used Photoshop Elements 5.0 to resize and print out.

This one is Sweet Pea's and they are colored with Copic Markers and blending pen. I used my oval nesties to cut it out and the layer of Bazzill pink cardstock. The blue polka dot designer paper came out of my scrap pile and I used the doily punch by MSC to make the borders on each side. I sponged some blue chalk ink around the sentiment and the Sweet Peas. The sentiment is from Penny Black.

Copic markers were used on this one, too. The background houndstooth is a stamp I just picked up from Impress Rubber Stamps and is stamped with canary ink by colorbox. Green grosgrain ribbon is tied onto the left side and the sentiment is stamped in the lower left hand corner (TAC).

I was surprised at how fun these were to work with. I experimented with watercolor as well, but the ink that I have in my HP printer is from Rapid Refill Ink, and ran a bit. I should've heat set it first. The two images that I purchased are from Sketching Stamper Digi Stamps and you can find them here, and there are several designs to choose from. I look at Digi Stamps as another tool in my arsenal - they'll never replace my rubber stamps, they're just another medium to work with, especially if you like to color like I do!

Quick congratulations

Here's a quick card that took about 10 minutes to do.I stamped the flower bunch in black ink and colored with glaze gel markers. Then layered with yellow and white cardstock. The scalloped border on the yellow striped designer paper is done with the Fiskars border bunch. This is layered on some yellow cardstock and congratulations is stamped on the lower right. Added a wide white grosgrain ribbon and a varigated yellow ribbon bow to finish things off. This is such a simple, fast, sunny card that I thought was worth posting on the blog to share.

I'm off to spread river rock into the flower beds! The sun is out and it should be a great day. Too bad I have to spend it doing forced yard work! Have a great Mother's Day!
