Sketch challenge

Hi everyone. It's time for another sketch challenge over at The House That Stamps Built.

As you can see I turned it sideways.

It's really hard to see in the photo, but I added some frost spritz onto the vellum piece. In real life it really sparkles and sets off the card.

Dandelion stamps and sentiment can be found over at the Repeat Impressions site. Link below.

Kraft cardstock is from PTI, green is from MFT and the dew drops are from Queen & Co.

So what are you waiting for?!  Why not play along with us and start stamping up a card now. We can’t wait to see your creations!

Don’t forget… Take part in one weekly challenge or all of them. The more you play along, the more chances you have to win! Each submission enters you in the drawing for our gift certificate. And you don’t always have to use our stamps in your creations, but we will reward you if you do. Each submission using a Repeat Impressions stamp will earn you an additional entry in the drawing!

Also, check out our Rock Star blogs to see what they did with the challenge.

Moose you

Hi everyone. While I'm away in Alaska, I thought I'd show you a card I made for my DH. He was going to come with me, but decided not to due to work issues.

Stamps and dies are from My Favorite Things.

Colored with Copic's and the plaid designer paper is from last year's holiday paper collection from Hobby Lobby.

That's it for now, thanks for stopping by!

Happy Halloween

Hi everyone! I had a few minutes today to put together a quick card for this weeks Freshly Made Sketch.

I used a spider web stencil and distress inks to create the back ground.

Spiders are small brads that I picked up at Impress Rubber Stamps.

Happy is die cut three times and glued together then added to the card using foam tape. The Halloween small sentiment is from Avery Ellle.

What a fun sketch to work with. Lots of possibilities!

Photo challenge

Hi everyone. It's time for another photo challenge over at The House That Stamps Built.

Here is the photo and below is what I ended up doing with it.
I used corrugated kraft paper from Die Cuts With A View to create the cupcake paper and also used it as a back ground panel.

Frosting is done using Tulip's puffy paint and I added yellow sprinkles onto it using glitter and silica gel. Yes, you read that right. I saved several packs of the gel and stuck them into a jar. To color them, I just put them into a container, added a bit of alcohol ink and let dry. Picture below. Imagine the possibilities!

Designer notebook paper is from Papertrey, Ink. Sentiment is from Repeat Impressions.

Thinking of you

Hello. I made this card a while ago and I'm just now getting around to showing you all.

The die used here is called sketch daisy from Memory Box and you can find it here.

I colored the flower petals with distress inks and off set them a bit just to be different.

Back ground is done using Ken Oliver's color bursts. Sentiment is from Essentials by Ellen designed by Julie Ebersol for Ellen Hutson.

I played around with framing the flower using a circle nestie and then cutting it on an angle using my craft knife. Card panel is popped up using foam tape onto a white card base.

OK, that's it for today. Thanks for popping in!

It's your birthday!

Hi everyone. It challenge time again over at the House that Stamps Built. This week it's Rock Star Heather's choice to host the challenge and she wants to see Happy Birthday cards. Easy peasy!

Butterfly and sentiment can be found over at Repeat Impressions. Link below.

Butterfly is stamped in versafine, heat embossed and then colored with Copic's. I did fussy cut it out, added wire antenna and popped it up to appear like it was fluttering above the leaf stems.

Designer paper is from A*Muse.

So what are you waiting for?! Why not play along with us and start stamping up a card now. We can’t wait to see your creations!

Project of the week - Faux Cloisonne

Hi everyone.  It's my turn over at The House That Stamps Built to host the project of the week. I have chosen to do Faux Cloisonne.

Cloisonne (pronounced cloy-zon-ay, French for ”partition”) is an ancient metalwork technique that makes use of small, precious metal filaments and colorful glass enamels to create brilliant artwork.

Here is what you need for this technique.

Outline stamp
Embossing buddy
Gold or metallic embossing powder
Versamark
Glossy catalog/magazine

I chose one of the most recent Coldwater Creek magazines I get due to the rich autumn colors in it.

I stamped in Versamark and then heat embossed using gold embossing powder. See example picture below.

As you can see, once I had selected all of the clothing out of the catty to stamp on, I fussy cut them out.  I chose to make the flower stamp a poinsettia and went with a Christmas theme.

During this time of year, the clothing magazines are so full of beautiful colors and textures and this technique makes it fun to create some wonderful works of art. Hope you find the time to experiment and if you do, please share you work with us!

According to my calculations

Hi everyone. I made the following card for the My Favorite Things 2016 card design superstar contest.

All stamps, die and cardstock is from My Favorite Things.

Stamps are from the set Get Down To Business.

I kept this clean and simple to actually give to one of my guy co-workers for his birthday.

I colored the all clear and clear buttons with a red Copic marker after getting out my real calculator to look at the colors. I didn't want to over do it with lots of colors since it was for a guy.

Thanks for stopping in today.

Batty

Hello. I was able to put together a card using this weeks Freshly Made Sketch.

The word search designer paper is from American Crafts. I like it because the happy Halloween stands out in the orange color at the bottom.

The bats in the moon is an old stamp from the former Angel Company that I colored with Copic's and fussy cut out.

The panel right behind it is done using border stamps from Waffle Flower.

This card is very outside my normal MO, but thought I'd do something different for a change. Thanks for stopping by and I'd really appreciate some feedback on this - as it kind of drove me batty - pun intended!

Color challenge over at the House

Hi everyone. It's time for another color challenge over at the House That Stamps Built. Here's the palette.

Here is what I did with it.

Sentiment is from the unmounted sheet of sentiments #8600 that can be found here

I used pastel shades of the pink, yellow and blue to cut out diaper pins using the dies from My Minds Eye.  Lil' Inker stitched die used around the border of the card.  Added some enamel dots to match to finish off the card.

So what are you waiting for?! Why not play along with us and start stamping up a card now. We can’t wait to see your creations!
