Christmas in July Blog Hop

Hi everyone - as promised here is the Paper Wings sponsored blog hop for Christmas in July featuring stamps from The Angel Company. Here are my two cards.

This darling little tree is from the set Jingle Jolly. I colored the pot with Copic markers and the star and ornaments were embellished with stardust pens. Paper is from the Reese soar with it collection. I stamped the sentiment panel and attached it with glue dots after bending it a bit to make it bow. Green buttons are from my stash and I added a bit of jute twine to match the kraft cardstock. Black cardstock used to layer the panels.

Next up is a very clean and simple one.
Goose and sentiment are from the Cuddly Christmas set. I had a lot of fun coloring this little guy with Copic markers. I used a white gel pen to highlight the snow flakes in his muffler. Red grosgrain ribbon used in the back and the main panel is popped up using foam tape. I didn't want to take away from this cute little guy, so I kept this one clean.

Thanks for stopping by and I'd love to hear what you think!

It's your day

Hi everyone! I decided to play along with the SCS sketch challenge this week. It has a lot of great possibilities to use up some designer papers that we've been saving.

Here is the sketch.

Here is my take on it.

Designer paper is from Memory box. The stamp is a retired one from The Angel Company. I cut it out using a circle nestie and then sponged around it with Memento summer sky blue ink.

The strip ends are cut with the cornice border punch from Martha Stewart Crafts. The doily die is from Papertrey ink.

Lastly, I added three self adhesive pearls from Kaisercraft.

Thanks for stopping in! Stayed tuned - on July 31 starting at 8:00 PM CST, a bunch of Angels over at Paper Wings are going to be doing a Christmas in July blog hop. Can't wait to see what everyone will be doing!

QAS - Blessed

Hey there! Here's a real quick and simple card for you today, sorta like CAS! =) Sometimes my CAS take a while to complete, if you know what I mean?

Daisy stamp is from The Angel Company (Blossoms and Blessings) and stamped in Palette Fresh Snow ink. I colored the center using chalk. Sentiment is also from TAC and stamped in Noir.

Tied the ribbon and bow off to the top right hand corner. The black scrappers floss was used to tie the ribbon in the center, then I tried to curl it. Not sure if I like it or not. Who has a fool proof method of getting scrappers floss to curl and look really cool? Please share!

So, like I said - not sure if I like the scrappers floss, so I cut it off and re-positioned the bow. It now looks like this:
Which one do you like better?

PTI Inspiration challenge

Hi everyone! It's the 25th of the month, which means that it's time for another PTI blog hop. Here is the inspiration photo.

I decided to follow the color palette.

Stamps are from Gracious Vases. The center vase is paper pieced and popped up using foam tape. The other two are colored with Copic markers. All paper except for the striped is from PTI.

As I was making this card, the big brown truck delivered my PTI order and I got to add the Half and Half die. After taping the two die cuts together I popped up the main image. Then I had to take it apart because the tape showed up on the bottom. =)

The brown and white striped paper on the base of the card is a Christopher and Banks paper bag that I cut up. Isn't it funny how the things we save, we do indeed use one day? Well maybe. Thanks for stopping by and let me know what you think!

Red Velvet Dress

Hi everyone! It's time again for another challenge over at Victorine Originals. This time we want you to use some bling. Not hard at all to do, right? There's a great stamp set up for the prize, too!

The dress is paper pieced using that wonderful velvet like paper. I added a rhinestone to the center of the top and highlighted along the folds of the dress with a stardust pen.

The textile embossing folder was used on the white cardstock then attached to the black card base. Black velvet ribbon used as an accent piece.

I just love how this turned out - very classy looking. The stamp is from Victorine Originals and can be used in so many different ways!

The challenge will be running until August 8th, so you have plenty of time to enter and you don't have to use VO stamps. Here's the link.

Thanks for stopping by!

Dry Brushing technique

Hi all. I decided to play along with the Make it Monday challenge over at Capture the Moment. This week they showcased a new (to me) technique called dry brushing. Here's my card.

Yes, I know it's Friday and this is a Make It Monday challenge, but decided to try it anyway! I brushed on white acrylic paint onto light green cardstock from Bazzill very lightly as I was going for the subtle look. Then I stamped on the leaf vine in Palette Fresh Snow, however it just got lost. So, I ended up adding some white embossing powder to it and heat embossed. Now you can see it. :-)

I'm not really sure if I'm satisfied with my choice of green ink for the main image. I was really going for a monochromatic match with the cardstock but in all my choices of green ink, this is the only one that came close.

Spellbinders nesties used for the rectangle and the lacey border and the pearls are from Queen and Co. Decided to pop up the main image with foam tape and make everything stand out with the black cardstock.

Stamps are from the Beyond Basic Borders from PTI. Thanks for stopping in and you can find the technique video of this Make It Monday challenge over at Nicole's blog.

Masculine Birthday

I went searching in my stash for a masculine birthday card and found that I'm out! Yikes! So, this is what I whipped up real fast to get in the mail.

Tag is made out of a coaster using the Quickutz tag die and a big eyelet from We R Memories is attached to the center. Back ground stamps and the sentiment are from PTI. Stamped the paper backgrounder in Palette burnt umber and then distressed it with vintage photo that was applied with a sponge applicator.

White background is embossed with the plaid embossing folder from Sizzix. The black cardstock is punched using the stitch border punch from EK Success.

Super quick and easy peasy. Our weather here in Washington state feels like early spring! I heard a radio announcer today coin July as "Julebruary" - go figure! So, if your in the middle of a heat wave, please send warm weather our way! Thanks for dropping in and be safe!

New Baby

Hi all! Here's a quick card I made for a close friend who just had another wee one.

Stamps are from The Angel Company. I heat embossed the baby buggy with clear embossing powder after stamping it Palette Noir.

Spellbinders fancy tags used to cut out the sentiment, as well as oval nesties. Added two lime green rhinestones for some bling to the swirls! Paper is Bazzill and the designer paper is from Lasting Impressions. Green grosgrain ribbon is from Ribbons and Bows Oh My and added two of the rhinestones to each corner to anchor things down.

Perfect colors for the new baby boy!

Thanks for stopping in!

Poppies

Happy weekend! It's raining outside and a great day to stay inside and stamp! Here's another clean and simple card using the PTI Anniversary set Botanical Silhouettes.

I inked up the stamp with palette pure poppy and jardin moss. The sentiment is stamped in noir. The red pearls are from Kaisercraft.

I cut and embossed the main image with a rectangle nestie and then layered it with a piece of black cardstock.

Someone recently ask for a picture of Noah to see how big he's gotten. So, I decided to add one in today.

He's 6 1/2 months old now and weighs in at over 50 pounds. He's wearing his new back pack so that we can get him used to is. We plan on taking him out hiking and want him to carry his own water and food. :)

Thanks for stopping in!

Hello everyone!

There's a challenge going on over at Victorine Originals blog where you can win a free stamp set. All you have to do is create something with flowers on it and up load it to the blog. Here's my inspiration card.

The vine swirl is from Victorine Originals and stamped in Versamark then heat embossed using clear embossing powder.

I made the pink flower using McGill punches. The foliage in the back is done with Martha Stewart punches and Spellbinders Foliage dies in various green colored cardstock from Bazzill and my stash of scraps.

Scatter seeds

Hello! Happy Monday to you all - I know, wishing that Friday was just around the corner! LOL.

I need some coloring advice on this creation. I colored the flower with Copics but I don't particularly like the way it turned out. What would you have done differently? More blending? Help!

Lattice embossing folder used on the white cardstock and I used my oval nesties again! Flower stamp and sentiment are from PTI.

In your heart

Hello! How about a clean and simple card today?

Stamps are from Papertrey ink and stamped in Palette Jardin moss, pure poppy and noir inks.
The green designer paper is from Memory Box. Polka dot 5 x 7 embossing folder used on the white cardstock and I mounted it on pure poppy cardstock. Nothing fancy, just kept it simple because I liked the sentiment a lot!

I decided to use my oval nesties, since they haven't seen light for a while. Self adhesive gold pearls are from Michael's Reflection line.

Thanks for stopping in! Have a great weekend!

Road trip photo's

Hi everyone! No card today, but I thought I treat you to some pictures from our road trip over the 4th of July weekend.

North Cascades Hiway - The American Alps.

Rainy Pass - elevation 4855
Still snow on the ground in July!

The town of Winthrop WA. Old western mining town. A lot of very eclectic shops and restaurants to amuse folks that are passing through.

View of Patterson lake from Sun Mountain Lodge.

The weather was just gorgeous and I've never in my life seen so many darn mosquito's! Even the locals were telling us that they were extremely bad this year. Thank goodness for "Off!"

Bee-cuz

Hello! I hope you all had a great 4th of July! We had great weather and the puppy did fine with all the loud bangs and booms!

Here's a clean and simple card to use for anything! All stamps are from The Angel Company. the Bee is stamped in Memento tuxedo ink and colored with Copic's and a stardust glitter pen. I had to bling up his wings a bit, ya know?

Spellbinders label die used on the black cardstock and circle nestabilities used to cut out the Bee and the sentiment. I just had to layer it with a subtle yellow (grin).

Black and white gingham ribbon was tied around the label die before adhering it to the white card base. I did use some scrappers floss to tie the middle of the ribbon before adhering the bow.

We spent a couple of days on a road trip this past weekend and had a blast. Pictures to follow shortly! Thanks for stopping in....
