Polished stone

Hi everyone! It's my turn to host the project of the week over at The House That Stamps Built. Today I'm going to be doing an old technique but twisting it up with pigment inks.

First of all, gather your supplies. You will need:

1. Pigment inks - I used colorbox petal point inks which I think most of us have.
2. Rubbing Alcohol (that is what is in the purple spray bottle below)
3. Cotton Balls/Pads
4. Glossy paper (I also tried this out on some photo printer paper that was glossy and it worked just fine.)





I did this on my craft mat so that I could go over the entire surface of the paper.


Using two of the colors in the container I randomly stamped it onto the glossy paper. Then I took cotton pad and saturated it with alcohol and blended it together. I tended to pounce the pad around instead of rubbing so that it wouldn't become a muddy mess.

 Below is what I ended up with.



 

Once dry, I adhered it onto a white card base and finished my card.

Here is the final result. I used Repeat Impressions 8503-U, Moments Quartet stamps to create this card. Butterflies are stamped three times and colored with Copic's. One of them is fussy cut out and I also added a bit of craft wire for the antenna.

That's it, pretty easy and you don't need to drag out your alcohol inks do this either. I love the results you can get using the pigment inks you have on hand.

Butterfly Swirls Blog Hop

Greetings all! Here's another great Blog Hop for you to check out! This one uses Butterfly Swirls from The Angel Company and I have two cards to show you. One you've seen before and the other is a new one I did for the hop.


This one you've seen before as I did a sketch around it. You can find all the details here.


This one is new and I did a direct to paper polished stone technique for the back ground. I did a tutorial on this a while back and you can find it here. This time it turned out looking like the sky - too cool! The butterfly is colored with Copic Ciao markers and is cut out and popped up with foam tape. A cream satin ribbon is used for a photo corner and I layered everthing in blue card stock. I did use glossy white card stock on this so all the stamping is embossed with clear embossing powder to make sure it dried fast and didn't smear. The sentiment is from the Feel Better set.

A few TAC cards to share

Hello everyone! I wanted to share two sketch challenge cards that I did over at SCS that use TAC stamps.

This one is Butterfly Bits. I stamped the butterflies in Memories Muted Violet chalk ink, that was stamped off once. Then came back with the same ink full strength to do the flowers. I added liquid pearls in white opal to the centers. The back ground strips are done using my direct to paper polished stone technique. If you want to see my tutorial on that, click here. The back ground paper is a pearl sparkle from paper accents.

This next one is done using the Everyday Events stamp set. It's colored with prisma color pencils and blended with OMS. I also used the black glaze gel pen for the centers of the flowers in the window box. The cloud back ground was air brushed with Copic Ciao markers and a cloud stencil. As you can see I used my nestabilities rectangle dies to cut out the main image. Paper is from the Core'dinations line. The red prima flowers were added to match the window box flowers. I had to cut a flower apart that looks like a leaf, to make one.
