Card Sketch #16

Happy Labor Day weekend! I just got back from the beautiful city of Denver, and I really got a change to see a lot of the outline cities and stayed out of the city proper (bummer)! It was a long, fast paced, fun filled, hard working four days! Anyway, here's my latest sketch and a modified version.

The stamps are from Stampendous called Merry Swirls. I stamped them in versamark and embossed with gold EP. The red background paper is from the bling line from Bazzill. I found some old gold metallic paper I had laying around from last Christmas and used that to mat the two panels.

The second version is using the same stamp set and this combination of versamark resist and emboss resist technique, which you can find here. The designer paper is DCWV, which I used in the background panels. Red and green cardstock is from Bazzill Basics.

Card Sketch #15 & Happy B-Day to me!

Happy Monday! Here is my latest card sketch. This one looks a little more complicated than my previous one, at least in the sketch. Anyway, I tried to put a little more creativity behind it, but it looks like a case on a SCS sketch we did a while back ago. At least with the triangle. Oh well, it's a little bit different and was really fun to do. You gotta love all those sketch challenges out there, it's what keeps our mojo going!!

Designer paper is K&Company and the stamp sets are from The Angel Company; circle sampler and something for you. I colored the main image with my prismacolors and used OMS to blend. I distressed the image with burnt umber ink from Palette.

On a different note, today is my birthday. My DH left me the following this morning. Isn't he sweet? The device is an RCA voice recorder (which I will need for work while I'm on the road) and he sang Happy Birthday to me on it! He also bought me a set of 48 Tria Markers - how lucky am I? Now all I have to do is figure out how to use these awesome alcohol markers.

I'm leaving tomorrow for Denver. I'm spending some time with a Peer from work (new job training) and will be gone till Friday. I'll post another sketch sometime over the weekend. Have a great week everyone!

Card Sketch #14 - Fast and Simple

Here's a very simple sketch for you all that can be done quick. You can always embellish this further, add more designer paper, etc. But, sometimes quick and easy takes the day!

Stamps are Curls & swirls from The Angel Company. I stamped the largest swirl on cream cardstock using Palette jardin moss and then colored in the lines with my green glaze gel pen. Bazzill Basic green cardstock was used to mat the two strips of swirls. The designer paper in the background is the Romance Collection from Daisy D's. The Thank You sentiment is also from TAC.

Have a great weekend!

Card Sketch #13

This sketch came about by accident as I was trying to do something totally different. Previously, I've been drawing them up on Microsoft word and then making the cards, this one I did in reverse. I was actually trying to case a card I had seen somewhere but didn't save, and my memory failed me. :-)

I've been playing around with Alcohol inks and came up with a really cool combination that is metallic copper and looks very Autumn-ish. In comes my new set of CTMH stamps from Rachel Shirk I got from a pay it forward thread over on SCS, called Autumn Splendor.

The green background panel is embossed using versamark and clear EP. I used colorbox chalk inks in warm red and yellow ocher and Palette jardin moss for the leaves on the copper panels. I also paper pierced around the perimeter and added some black brads at the top and tied a olive green ribbon around the middle panel.

Card Sketch #12

Happy Monday! Here's another card sketch for you all! This one is non-TAC stamps! These are from a local stamp company called Great Impressions. They have an outlet store attached to their shop, AND all past stamps are half off. Yes, you read right, half off! I go in there periodically just to check things out. They buy back the stamps of the month from LSS that didn't sell and sometimes you can find really good deals on some very cute stamps! What I like about these stamps is that they are deeply etched and make wonderful impressions!

The DP in the background is from K&Company. The red cardstock is Bazzill. I used my Marvy LePlumme II markers on the small flowers, the sentiment is stamped in Jardin Moss from Palette inks. The bigger blossoms are Pop Flowers from Stampendous and they are stamped in warm red colorbox chalk ink that matached the marker color. I popped up the panels using deminsional foam and added ribbon to complete the card.

By the way, Sierra Enterprises sells Great Impression stamps and has great service!

I have one more card sketch ready for uploading this week, but not sure when it will happen. I start a new job today and I'm sure that I'll be swamped for a while.

Camping scrapbook pages

Well, I've finished four pages from our camping trip so far! I tend to add a lot of pictures to my layouts and not a lot of journaling. I just hate my handwriting (and making mistakes) so I end up typing things out on the computer most of the time. In this first two page layout, I actually journaled in my own writing!! I used the journaling stamp set from Autumn Leaves and then wrote a little bit about our trip.

The second two page layout was really fun to do. I just used the great pictures of the 4 mountains (check out my previous post) to capture the awe we felt seeing these. I used SU DD pines on the bottom with colorbox chalk ink in warm green. I then used colorbox chalk ink in ice blue to add sky and clouds. The clouds were done with the Picasso brass template from Dreamweaver Stencils.

I purchased a Wishblade about six weeks ago, and had a lot of fun playing with titles on these pages. What a great investment that was for me! I think it's made it's return on investment with all the great things that I've been able to do with it so far. And I've only just begun!

More layouts to come!

Card Sketch #11

Here's the final sketch I completed on my camping trip. Now, I just need to get to scrappin all the pictures we took! :-)

The leaf sprig is from the stamp set "Sprigs" and the sentiment is from Rose Sentiments from the Angel Company.

I used Palette burnt umber ink to stamp the leaf and then colored the leaves with my glaze gel pen. The sentiment is stamped in Palette jardin moss. I also dusted on some creamy brown chalk ink (colorbox) for a distressed look and roughed up the outer edges of the main panel with my scissors.

I punched out parts of the leaf sprig with my window word punch and layered it on the side and added a brad to separate the two images. All paper is Bazzill cardstock.

Halloween cards anyone?

Halloween is one of the holiday's that we don't generally send or make "cards" for. We usually stamp up some treat bags or what not, but never a card, right? Well, I participated in the sketch challenge over at ASB (#83) and I had just bought this really cool looking orange and black paper for doing something with for Halloween. Anyway, I thought this sketch would really showcase the paper and it turned out pretty cute. Frankie is colored with my prismacolor pencils, DP by The Paper Patch, and the stamp is from the trick or treat set from The Angel Company.

I did a Halloween nugget treat box last year with this same set of stamps.

Color combo challenge

This was a card I made for the color combo challenge over at ASB. I thought that this was just the push I needed to get out my new "Sprigs" stamp set from The Angel Company and play around.

I stamped them side by side and added a red gingham bow to cover the stems up that overlap a little. I kept things very clean and simple for this card. The hearts are colored in with my red glaze gel pen. Red cardstock is from Bazzill. The sentiment is also from TAC.

I think I'll keep this one on file for giving on Valentines day. That Holiday tends to creep up on me and I always have to rush to get a card done for my DH.

Card Sketch #10

This was a fun sketch to put together both on the computer and in real life. As you can see, I modified it myself just a tad bit. What happened was that I had a small bit of the new designer paper "Lilly Anna" from the Angel Company left and wanted to use it really bad. So, I didn't use the paper for the vertical panels, I used my stamps instead.

Stamp set is "Sprigs" by The Angel Company - colored using a prismacolor pink pencil.

Words done with Karen Foster's snap-stamps in casual.

Card Sketch #9

Happy Thursday! I jumped straight to sketch #9, I didn't like how #8 turned out at all!

This paper is from the new paper pack from TAC called Hemingway! I just love all the colors in this paper.

Stamp set is Deco Designs from TAC. I used jardin moss palette ink to stamp the image on white card stock and then colored the flowers with my prisma's. As you can see I used my marvy scalloped punches to layer. The golden card stock is by DCWV. I ended up using four pieces of ribbon to separate and add layers. In between the ribbon I used the small little leaf stamp included in the set and stamped some images randomly to add some dimension.

As I was sitting at the picnic table stamping away, I began to notice the slight changes in the foliage happening all around me. Fall is creeping in on us with the bright golds, reds and oranges. That is what gave me the inspiration for this card.

Card Sketch #7

As promised in my early post (see below) here is another card sketch that I completed during my camping trip.

This is done using my new Angel Company paper "Lilly Anna". I just love the colors and textures of this new paper! The flower is from petal pack, also from The Angel Company! I colored it using my glaze gel pens. I did two of them and cut them out and layered them with a brad. Can you believe that I actually took my marvy scalloped punches with me on my trip? Boy were they heavy in my bag! LOL ! I added some paper piercing to the panels and the outer scallop, and then used my glaze gel pen to add the dots around the smaller scalloped circle. The Thank you sentiment is from the Rose Sentiments set by TAC and was stamped on the punch out tag (included in the paper pack). I adhered it to the card with brads.

More card sketches to come throughout the week!

4 Mountains

On our camping trip we came across four separate mountains in our adventures through the cascades sight seeing. The weather was clear and sunny, not as hot as it usually is at the end of July, beginning of August, but definitely good four wheeling and picture taking weather!

The first picture is of Mt. Rainier - staple of our landscape here in the PNW. This is just a slightly different view.

The second picture is of our volcano Mt. St. Helens. She was smoking this day as you can see and looking pretty spectacular!

The third and probably hard to see in this picture is of Mt. Hood in Oregon. This was taken at one of the view points along the way up to see Mt. St. Helens.

Lastly, this is Mt. Adams in all it's glory in front of lake Takhlakh.

Just thought I would show you all some of the great reasons why we put up with the rain here in the pacific northwest. As my transplanted southern DH would say - with tongue in cheek! "Remind me again why I love it here?" (It took him a while to get used to the weather here, LOL)

Stay tuned for another card sketch post later tonight.

Card Sketch #6

Here is one of the cards that I did while I was away camping. I'm going to post some of my camping pictures later, as we had such a wonderful time and saw so many awesome things! Between my husband and me, we ended up taking over 200 pictures!

Anyway, the card particulars are:

Stamp set is Petal Pack by The Angel Company.
Sentiment is from Rose sentiments, also by TAC.
Ink is Palette French Lilac and Noir
Flower colored with prismacolor pencils and OMS.
Purple card stock is Bazzill basic's
Sakura stardust pen

BTW, here is a picture of me hard at work (play) while we were camping! I ended up completing a total of 5 card sketches and lots of playing around swatches to be used at some point.

TAC August Stamp of the Month Samples

I was asked about a month and a half ago to make up some samples for the August stamp of the month by The Angel Company. I was extremely excited and very honored to be asked to do this. The only thing was that I couldn't share my work on my blog and I basically had to keep it a secret until they came out in August. Wow, was that hard. Here is a link to the samples that they posted on their web site! I'vve also posted a couple more samples that were not selected for the web site.
