Pretty in Pink

Here's a little something I made with some mod podge and a strip or two of TAC Pop Rockz paper.

I cut a piece of Pop Rockz paper tall and wide enough to fit through my computer printer and printed out on the back, the long triangle lines to cut out.

The strips are covered in mod podge and then rolled up on a tooth pick. I did a second coat of MP over the outside of the beads to protect it. The jewelry hard ware was purchased at Michael's fairly cheap, as well as the glass pink beads. As you can see I alternated the paper beads with the glass ones. This went together pretty quickly and it's a great way to add some color to your jewelry collection - especially with all the yummy designer papers we have!

Card Sketch #104

Hi everyone! Here's sketch #104 - Let it snow. This measures a normal A2 size.


I just ran across this brand of paper that is new to me, and bought a pack of their "winter" colors. It's from American Crafts and I'll post a link below.

I also just found the snow flake embossing folder and die from provo craft and had to literally snatch it off the shelf, before someone else got it before me. There was only three left and they were going like hotcakes!

The die cut snow flake is sponged with sky blue chalk ink - then dunked in some crystal glitter. I had to cave in and buy the branch punch from Martha Stewart at Michael's the other day, while it was still on sale. I punched a few branches out of white card stock and added it to the top of the snow flake and topped it off with a button. I've been seeing this type of layered effect on so many projects out there, and fell in love with it....so, here's my first attempt at casing one. Quite frankly, Anna Wight (sweet miss daisy) does them the best!

Non traditional poinsettia

Hello everyone! I did the SCS sketch challenge this week (#203 that can be found here) and thought I'd show you my take on it.

The center poinsettia is stamped three times and colored with Copic Ciao Markers in lipstick red R29. I cut a part two of them and then layered the petals on with dimensionals. Next, I got out my melting pot and melted a bit of UTEE and dipped the poinsettia in so that it was totally covered in UTEE. I intended to make this into a lapel pin, but it worked so well for the center of this sketch.

The panels on each side are stamped with the same poinsettia stamp and then layered with black card stock. I added a bit of bling to the center with a gold gel pen. The black corner squares are cut out with a 7/8 punch and paper pierced in the corners.

Another TAC Christmas Card

Hello there! I was playing around and came up with two versions of this card and thought I'd share them with you. I just added a few more embellishments and changed the card base color and layers.

This first card uses a cream card stock for its base. I stamped the images in versamark and embossed with gold embossing powder. I also took my ruler and a versamark pen and drew an outline around the main panel and embossed it too. The holly is done the same way but on very heavy cardstock and cut out. I added liquid pearls in Ruby for the berries and then let it dry (which seemed to take forever). Then I used my fingernails and bowed the holly so that it stood out when I added the dimensionals to make it pop. I found a bulk package of these extra large eyelets by We are Memory Keepers and added it to the bottom and threaded wired gold ribbon through. The red paper in the back ground is from Hot Off the Press.

On this one, I did the exact same things except I added two more sprigs of holly and used Bazzill red card stock as the base, and layered it with white card stock. I think I like the one above the best. What do you think?

Card Sketch #103

Here's sketch #103 - measuring 3 3/4 x 4 3/4.

This sketch is great for those little note cards that can be made in a hurry! This is also great for using all those Studio G $1 little stamps that we tend to collect! I picked up this Studio G $1 stamp set for Thanksgiving a while ago, but just now got around to doing something with them.

I stamped the turkey and sentiment in Palette Noir ink and colored the turkey with Prisma Color Pencils and blended with OMS. I used my nestabilities to cut out both images and the layers.

The straight panel down the left side seemed a bit plain - so I added some window word punch strips. I staggered them down the side and added brads.

Crystal blue snowflake

Here's a real quick card that I put together using some paper scraps that I had from last year.

The paper is from Hot off the Press, called Christmas Creative Pack and well worth the money! I've ordered two in the last several years. The papers are classic but also on the cutting edge, too. The card measures 3 3/4 x 4 1/2. I cut a piece of card stock 5 3/4 x 4 1/2 and then scored at 2".

I haven't used my corner rounder in ages, so I thought I'd round a few of the corners on this card. I layered the Christmas paper onto the base - and added the right hand side ribbon at the same time. I cut two scalloped circles, glued them together while inserting the other ribbon for the tie. I stamped the snowflake on and then decided to embellish with some rhinestones. This card took all of 10 minutes or less and could be mass produced very easily. Have a wonderful day!

Gift card holder

Hi there! I wanted to share this gift card holder with everyone. This one is pretty simple to make and is showing up all over the place. Cut a piece of card stock to 4 x 11. Score at 3, 5 1/2 and 8. Fold so that it looks like a "W" and then take a circle punch and and the window word punch and make the opening big enough to fit a gift card. You can see this in the picture below.

The Holly stamp is from Cards by Maria. It was stamped separately, colored with copic ciao markers in emerald green (G05) and then cut out. I used my largest hold punch and punched out some berries out of red card stock. The sentiment is Holiday Script from Lizzie Anne Designs.

As you can see I covered the panels with Christmas paper (that was from last season) and embellished things up a bit. The holiday circle is from Stampin Up! called riveting, which is stamped in Evergreen ink (colorbox) and embossed with clear ep. I also used the same holly stamp with versamark to stamp some holly on the far right side of the holder.

Christmas cards

Hey everyone! I've been trying to get all my Christmas cards done and thought I'd post a few of them. I never make more than three alike....to me it gets a bit tedious.

This stamp is from Great Impressions. I stamped the image twice, cut out the holly and popped it up with dimensionals. The holly is colored with Copic Ciao markers in Go5,R29 and C1. I added some sparkles using the stardust gel pen on the snowflakes. The red berries have a bit of red sparklets glitter by Denami Design on them. The plaid designer paper is from last year and I have no idea who makes it. Red brads are added to the corner to finish off the card.

The deer image is from The Angel Company and I colored him with Copic Ciao markers in R29, E37, E33 and C1. I decided to color his nose red and make him Rudolph. The reindeer back ground stamp is from Auntie Amy's that I bought at a stamp show and is stamped in Impress Emerald green. Bazzill scarlet paper is used to layer both images.

The snow on this one is done with white craft paint and a dots stamp from Stamps by Judith. The tree is from The Angel Company and is stamped in Palette Jardin Moss. The sky is daubered on with sky blue chalk ink from colorbox. The sentiment is Holiday Script from Lizzie Anne Designs.

Card Sketch #102

Greetings! Here is sketch #102 measuring 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. This one's pretty simple, which means that the possibilities are endless! This is a variation of the delph blue sketch, but with a thinner strip and a circle inserted in the center of the diamond - perfect for a sentiment.

Here is my example - this color combo really pops and make this look so classy.

I used a heavy duty premium white cardstock as the base for this card. The diamond measures 2.5 x 2.5 and the strip is 1 3/4 wide. The main panel is stamped in Versamagic chalk ink in Sea breeze which comes close to matching the DP.





I stamped the ornament in the corners of the diamond making sure to get each stamp as close to each other as I could. I like this stamp - it appears to be a close match to what is going on in the DP, very ornamental! I used my nestabilities to cut and emboss the circles for the center.

Card Sketch #101

Hello! Here is sketch #101 - measuring 4 1/4 by 5 1/2.

The ribbon is intended to look like it's hanging up a picture or your main panel.

I stamped the main image with colorbox chalk inks in autumn pastels. I have the palette of inks that came in a strip, so I just inked up my stamp with the greens that were in line. I stamped one image and without re-inking stamped another right next to it, giving it that ghost appearance. I've been into using a lot of my designer papers on the sides of my cards lately. This one is so earthy looking that it would make a good masculine card.

Card Sketch #100 !!!!

Hello - here's sketch #100!!!

Wow, can you believe that I have drawn up and produced 100 card sketches? I can't - what fun this has been! I hope that you've gotten a little bit of inspiration and ideas from some of my designs. Lately I've been deliberating whether to continue these or not - I would love to hear your opinion and your comments will help me to make a final decision.

The top panel is actually a tag - but there isn't an easy way to draw a tag in Microsoft Word.

The card base is an ivory piece of Canson Papercraft paper, that has a wonderful texture to it and reminds me of watercolor paper. The tag is hand made - I used another tag as a pattern, traced it, cut it out and added the paper reinforcement (using a small round punch). The flowers are stamped on ivory card stock in jumbo java Versamagic ink - I also used the same ink to distress the tag.

The circle is cut out and embossed using nestabilities dies. The strip of paper down the right side and the lower panel are designer papers from The Angel Company, called Willoughby.

Card Sketch #99 - Act of kindness

Hi all! Here is sketch #99 - measures a normal A2 size. Here is an opportunity to use up some of your hoarded designer paper!!! I used up some of my "Once upon a time" DP from DCWV for the left side panel as well as the card base on this one.

Both panels are layered with a olive green card stock and I used a olive ink to stamp both of my images in. I thought really hard about coloring in parts of the swirl using one of the colors in the paper - but decided to leave it simple and make it a quick one. I added a very light green grosgrain ribbon to cover the seams. I really like how this turned out, so soft and serene.

Alcohol Ink technique - Oops, I mean Distress Ink tech.

I just recently discovered this cool new technique on another blog, and I think it was from Sweet Miss Daisy (Anna Wight) over on Sweet & Sassy that showed us this. However, I can not find the post on her blog. But then again, you can spend hours on her blog and learn lots! Anyway, here's a picture of my finished card and a close up of the technique.

Stamp your image in a white ink (I used Versamagic in Cloud White) and then use Distress ink in Faded Jeans (not alcohol inks) applied with a sponge applicator. This is done on Georgia Pacific White Card Stock. The Distress ink resists the white ink and this is the result that I got with Versamagic. I tried this technique with Palette White Canvas, but did not like the results. You can play around with the white ink pads in your collection to see which one will give you the most vibrant white. I stamped the small snowflakes in the same ink after the fact to fill in.
